Kangaroos defeat Sewanee.
Sewanee, TN – Quarterback Kent Bell threw
one touchdown pass and ran for another as the Austin College Kangaroos defeated
the Sewanee Tigers 16-13 at McGee Field on Saturday.
Sewanee took the opening
kickoff and drove 65 yards in twelve plays to score first. RB Blake Mears scored from 5 yards out, but
the extra point kick was blocked by the ‘Roos.
AC got on the scoreboard after the Kangaroos recovered a Patrick Shelton fumble at the Tiger 22. CB Matt Finke forced and recovered the fumble for the ‘Roos. It only took 5 plays for AC to score, with Kent Bell connecting on an 8-yard pass to Zack Swirczynski. However, Jonathan Hersch’s extra point try hit the left upright, and was no good.
Sewanee
had a long drive in the fourth quarter that stalled at the Kangaroo 10 yard
line, setting up a short field goal, but that was blocked by Matt Finke. Sewanee did score with :47
